Shower guests from work

Hi Ladies,

A close friend is planning a shower in my honor for later this summer.  It will include a few family (most are across country), some local friends and work colleagues.  She has asked me to prepare a guest list and is comfortable hosting a relatively large group.  

Without getting into specifics, there are different tiers of women with whom I associate at work (in terms of position of authority, income level, etc.).   I like many of them very much, and have a fairly friendly relationship with them.  I am torn as to whether or not to include some of these ladies on the guest list, first of all, there are dozens of them (not sure where to draw the line), and also I feel a little funny inviting them to a shower which would suggest that they bring a gift for me.  Some of them are single moms, sole income-earners and I wouldn't want or expect them to spend money on me.  On the other hand, I am afraid some would feel left out or hurt if not invited.
