Feeding help

I have a 7 wk old. She is EBF and though gaining weight very well is doing progressively worse because of milk protein allergy. It has been suggested to switch her to Nutrimagen formula, but it will take about two weeks to see results. I'm beyond bummed to give up BF but eliminating all dairy including breads, butter, etc. just seems impossible. If I give up nursing and formula doesn't make a significant difference then what? Any suggestions and similar experiences welcome.
