Undescended testicle?

We took our 2 month old to his monthly check up the other day. We mentioned to his pediatrician that he only has one testicle, the doctor examined him and tried to feel for it but he didn't find it. He said they will continue to check every time he comes in and by 4-6 months if it hasnt came down they would have a surgeon look for it. He said that if he was born with on,y one that it's no bug deal but if he was born with two and the other doesn't come down it can cause testicular cancer when he gets older... Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows someone who has
