Membranes stripped?

I am 39 wks, 1 day and just had my checkup this morning.  Dr said no signs of labor and baby really wasn't that low but he did an internal and I think he might have stripped my membranes bc now I have overall pain - not contraction like (I know bc this is my 3rd) but overall soreness and pain.  Just wondering if others had their membranes stripped if that is what it felt like?
