Co-ed baby-q with no registry?

My best friend wants to throw me a baby shower. My husband and I both share similar friends so I wanted to suggest to my friend a co-ed shower. 

I mentioned having it at my house just because we don't really have anywhere else that would work. I don't really want to have a registry other than for a discount later on so I don't really want to print it on the invitation.

If that is the case, do you think I could help plan it since its at my house and I don't want to ask for presents or do you think that is still tacky?

I am on the fence thinking it kind of is but not quite sure and want some other opinions.
