itching and swelling

This is probably tmi for sure, but for the past several days I've had severe itching and swelling "down there". It's so bad and its really sore! I don't want to put in a stupid call to my doctor, I have an appointment in a week. Has anyone had this? What was it and what can I do to make it better?
