Week 28 - in the hospital - early contractions

Hi,

Its week 28 and 4 days and i had to get my wife admitted to the clinic since she was getting dull pains in the lower abdomen. Didnt think much of it till i called our Gynaec and he asked us to come right over. It was confirmed by the nurse that there were contractions (every hour) with the belly tightening.

She was put on Duvadilan and Betnesol (corticosteroid) in the morning. then the pains subsided (no pain for 7 hrs) after the medicinal effect reduced, they started again. The doc said that the cervix is thinning (external view- physical exam). The ultrasound showed that everything is normal including the size of the cervix(internal view). The doc has asked us to stay the night for observation and to ensure that the the contractions cease, so that he can put her on oral  medicines that she can take.

The idea is to delay the pregnancy as much as we can. I trust the doc knows what he is doing. He ruled out the chance of false contractions or braxton hicks contractions.
