Pediatrician or Family Practice Physician?

So I was asking my Ob and her nurse their suggestion on which Dr. to pick for my lo, surprisingly they were very un-opinionated and really left the ball in my court.  I have not seen my "regular provider" (family practice) in over 15+ years, because once it was time for annual paps, I really didn't like him.  So, Moms and healthcare workers our there, what is your preference for your lo(s)?  Does it make a big difference?  Thanks for your help!
