Odd occurrence

So something really strange happened to me over the weekend. When I wake up in the mornings I tend to have some achiness or pain in my hands and knuckles but I think it's just a circulation issue as I usually sleep with one arm under my head. But Sunday the pain developed into the pointer finger on my left hand getting swollen and so painful it felt broken. I couldn't even bend it without horrible pain. It has since gotten almost back to normal but wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
