When to start pumping?

Hello all!

I keep reading that you shouldn't start pumping until after 4 weeks PP, but why? I am 8 days PP and started to pump to try and build my stock pile but now I am second guessing my decision. I mentioned it to the LC at DS weight check and she did not raise any white flags. What can pumping too early hurt?
