GBS and UTI infection

Hi Everyone - 

 

I'm new to writing on the boards, so forgive me if my lingo is not correct!!

I recently had a triage visit this past weekend because I felt like there was something wrong.  When I went, they did a urine sample and monitored me for about 45 minutes.  The monitoring revealed nothing but a strong heartbeat (at 27 weeks) and a nervous first time mommy.  However, a few days later I received a call from my doctor saying that I tested positive for Group B Strep/UTI and needed antibiotics.  

They explained that this is fairly common among pregnant women and that taking antibiotics is routine, both now to treat it and again during labor to prevent any complications with baby.

 Has anyone ever experienced this???  Just like to get some input from other moms or mom-to-be's.
