nursing on one side only

my ds is about to turn 1 next month and seems to be weaning himself off nursing.  My problem lately has been that he prefers nursing only off my right side, which leaves my left terrible engorged and it is soooo painful. Has anyone have this happen before? I often find myself starting with the left just to help relieve the pain, but he literally looses it when I offer that side! He cries and throws himself around and refuses the feeding all together. This morning he has already refused two feedings....on the third try I gave in and began with the right. He drank and finished on that side fast so I offered the other side but only got two to three drinks from that. This really wouldn't be a big problem if he was already drinking milk or formula to replace...but he is also refusing to drink any of these.  Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
