Can LO over eat from BF?

DS is 4.5 mos old. For the last week and a half, he has even waking every couple hours or more often at night. Nursing him is the only thing that will usually get him back to sleep. I found out Friday that he has a double ear infection. He's been on an antibiotic since Friday and seems to be feeling much better. He is currently sleeping in his RnP so he is elevated. I'm afraid that now he is nursing at night more out of habit than anything else. If that is the case, could he possibly be OVER eating?? He spits up only a little here and there...and he gained 20 oz in 11 days!
