Engorgement at night, pump or not?

LO is now pretty consistently but my breasts have not gotten the message yet and I still wake up every 4 hours from engorgement. I usually just try to ignore it or express a little by hand but its still uncomfortable.
I haven't pumped because I don't want my body to continue to think I need to feed in the middle of the night but should I be?
How long before I regulate? What else can I do to be able to sleep as long as my LO?
