Investing in a breast pump...

I was a SAHM with my last baby but I will not be able to do so with my the new addition due in April.  I never needed a pump before but I am going to need one this time around.  I don't even know where to start. I know renting one is an option too but I'm wondering if it would make more sense to just purchase one since I plan to breastfeed for at least a year. Do you have recommendations about renting vs. buying?  Any pumps that you like? Dislike?  Any help would be appreciated!
