Manual pumping too much of a pain?

I will be a FTM in +/- 40 days and I am looking forward to breastfeeding my baby.

I will be at home for the first while and may return to work part-time in the evenings.  Do you think a manual pump will be enough if I plan to be out of the home 3-4 evenings a week for a few hours at a time?  I found several manual pumps with good reviews and don't mind sitting a little longer to use the hand pump vs an electric.  We don't have (or want to) spend so much money on an electric pump that I may not use often. 

What do you ladies think of manual breast pumps?  Any suggestions?
