Hair Appointment

What's everyone's take on the hair dye?  I have a naturally dark blonde color hair but I have highlighted it pretty much since college.  I have a scheduled appointment tomorrow but I've read that hair dyes (especially bleach which is added to the highlight) can be dangerous for pregnant women.  Now I'm considering canceling but concerned I'll have to wear a hat for the next 9 months while the roots grow out  Thoughts?  Any hair stylists out there?
