Movin' on up to an abdominal u/s and totally confused by it!

So, I think you ladies will find this amusing because I sure did. And I bet a bunch of you have been in my shoes. I am so used to the vag cam by this point that I was ready to go - clean, easy clothes, ready to drop trou on a dime. But my new doctor, my first doctor visit to the perinatologist, proved otherwise. 

Dr.: Okay, go ahead and sit down.

Me: What, okay, don't I need a cloth?

Dr. (Confused look, waving the wand): No, just lay back.

Me: Ummmm, okay. Aren't we doing an ultrasound?

Dr.: Yes, go ahead and lay back.

Me: Don't I need to take my clothes off?

Dr.: No

Me (starting to look confused and tugging at my panties): Not even my underwear?

Dr.: No, this is an abdominal ultrasound. We only do vaginal ultrasounds if we have trouble seeing.

Me (cue embarrassment): Ohhhh, got it! I'm just so used to seeing the RE that I've never experienced this before.  

Dr.(laughs)

Sooooo, does this mean my dates with the vag came are coming to a close?  I will take it! 

Oh, and please tell me I'm not alone!!! Did anyone else have this happen?
