Picking a hospital?

The OB practice that I have gone to for the last 7 years (I love my Dr.) only uses one particular hospital. It is a good 30 minutes away from my house, while there are others that are slightly closer. DH is kind of worried about it and wants to tour other hospitals, but I want to be where my doctor will be. Whoever is on call will deliver, but they will at least be familiar with my case.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Is this normal for doctors, or do they typically go to whatever hospital you choose? I'm so confused. It makes sense to me that they work out of one hospital, but DH seems to think we need to shop around. (Not that he has any experience)
