Forceful letdown

I think I have forceful/over active letdown. Sometimes DD can handle it (chugs like she's at a frat party), while other times she chokes and unlatches, letting milk spray all over. Is this something that will calm down in time, or will DD just become better equipped to deal with it? We are finally at about 90% BFing (preemie- started by EPing) and I want her to continue being successful.
