using a nipple shield- milk supply feels low??

I've been breastfeeding for 4 weeks, (my first time) and I've been using a nipple shield as advice from my lactation consultant at the hospital because I have flatter nipples. She doesn't latch at all without it. She's had plenty of wet and dirty diapers but over the last week or so I feel like my breasts aren't filling up in between feedings and I'm worried I'm running out of milk and will have to eventually turn to formula. Any suggestions?????????
