Do you ask your OB non preg related ?s

I was talking with my mom the other day and my shoulders had been really really itchy. On my right arm, near my shoulder, I have this hard bump (almost looks like a scar but it's also a little darker than my skin color) and have had it for maybe close to two years. I've never really thought anything of it but since I had been feeling it more often (itching/lotioning my shoulders) I asked my mom what she thought it was. Her response was, "How am I supposed to know? I'm not a doctor. Ask your OB."

I wasn't really expecting a medical diagnosis from her or anything but oh well. But I never would have thought to ask my OB because it's not related to my pregnancy at all. She says that doctors are doctors and my OB could help. Would you ask?
