Tips for buying diapers?

One of my friends suggested that I stock up on some diapers before the little one gets here. So, with good intentions, I went to the store and stared dumb-faced at diapers for about 30 mintues. There are so many kinds! I ended up getting the Huggies brand for infants, it even has the little hole cut out for the umbilical cord.

Any insightful wisdom from experienced diaper buyers?
