Baby Boy Circumcision?

We are having a little boy due 4th of July and he will be our first child. We have agreed to have him circumcised (like my husband is) but at what point do we get that done? I had a friend wait till her son was like a month old and he was a wreck after the fact, he cried for like 3 days. I am now kinda worried and would hate to have it done at the hospital and then have our first 3 days together be such painful ones.

 

Any second time moms have advice on this?!
