Should I be switching to regular BCP?

I still haven't had a pp period and DS is now 13 months old.  He's down to two nursings/day and one at night.  I am currently on the mini-pill, but I'm starting to get paranoid that it won't be as effective since he's dropped so many nursings.  Do I need to get a scrip for the regular pill?  Just use condoms too?  Start taking tests every few days?
