3rd Trimester

really doctor?!

I went for an appointment today and decided to tell my doctor that there have been some confirmed cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in my school. I asked what should I be aware of or do? I asked if I could/should get the Tdap booster...her response was "let me google that" !!!!!!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!!!!!

She proceeds to google it and says "the CDC, that's a pretty reliable website" and then reads off the website that it is acceptable to get the vaccine in the second or third trimester if the benefits outweigh the risks...she says that I am high risk of exposure being a teacher but their office doesn't vaccinate and i should talk to my family doctor...but she doesn't discuss the "benefits" or "risks"

so i call my family dr and they tell me that i can't get the vaccine until after the baby is born but that i should get a culture to see if i picked it up... >{
