used breast pumps

if you buy new tubing and new bottles for yourself, is it safe to buy a used pump? I'm trying to remember from ds1 (borrowed a pump from a close friend who had never used it) and if i recall, there was no milk going into the machine, just the tubes and bottles, right? I do not want to take a risk to save some money but was just wondering if the new tubing and bottles are the difference? thanks ladies!
