newbie questions about waking to feed and undressing/tickling

I was not successful BFing DS, so this is all new territory for me. 

DD has a great latch and suck when she's awake, but after about 6 or 7 minutes, it's a fight to keep her awake at the breast.  I have to undress her, tickle her, and do breast compressions to keep her going.  How long did this last for you?

Also, when did you stop waking to feed?  I swear she would sleep forever if I let her.  DD was born 9 lbs 14 oz, dropped to 9 lbs 1 oz at 4 days, and back up to 9 lbs 5 oz at 6 days.  I'm going for another weight check tomorrow.
