Anyone get a mole removed?

I think I have to get a mole removed and I'm wondering the process. I have a mole on my side that is starting to hurt and its making me a bit nervous. I made an appointment with a dermatologist to get it checked out, but I'm wondering if its even safe to have it removed during pregnancy.

Does anyone have experience with the procedure? TIA!
