True contraction or something else?

I woke up at 1am this morning with menstrual like cramps in my lower abdominal area.... I got up to pee and immediately after I had sharp sharp pain in my lower ab that steadily increased in strength, and lasted for about 2 minutes before finally easing off......it scared the crap out of me! I'm wondering if this was a true contraction, or something else to be concerned about? I can't say whether my entire belly got rock hard like they say happens, because i was too focused on the pain below!

I am 38 weeks +3 days......any one else had this happen?
