Just realized that car seats expire!

Here I consider myself a smart, educated person and it never dawned on me that a car seat would actually expire.  Our daughter is 5 years old and I haven't checked the date on the Graco infant carrier we used for her, but I'm going to assume that it's expired since it's over 5 years old.  I'm thinking we can probably do the Babies r Us Trade In Event and get 25% off the purchase of a new one.  I guess it's time to start researching infant car seats! 

Has anyone already chosen their infant car seat?  We really liked the Graco Snugride last time.
