Gastrenterologist?

After gas drops, gripe water, 4 different types of formula we still have a screaming baby on our hands. The doctor suggested we go to a gastrenterologist. Anyone had to go to one yet? What should I expect from a first visit? I am praying they have an answer for us so we can ALL get a little rest. TIA
