How far is too far at 39 weeks?

I will be 39 weeks on Friday and my MIL wants DH and I to come over for a celebration for SIL on Saturday at her place 1 hour away. I initially didn't think much about it except to worry I'd be tired but my mom mentioned that may be too far from the hospital. We are going to tell them they are welcome here but we aren't comfortable going out of town after talking about it. I am hoping for a VBAC so I want to be at my hospital and I am supposed to go in asap, too. This will probably cause some controversy; do you think it's unreasonable?
