Swelling/carpal tunnel

Today is my first day in the third tri (yay) and its already trying to break me down. I've had swelling in my ankles for a few weeks (but it's getting bad) and woken up with numb hands a few times but today my right hand is swollen and numb and hurts.  I think I just slept with it bent all night but it's annoying.  

 

Anyone have any experience with this? Tips? Suggestions? I'm going to buy compression socks today and see my doctor in a week. I'll call if it's this bad tomorrow but I'd love to do anything that will help for now.
