Treats for nurses at hospital?

Somebody mentioned this to me today.  She said she brought cookies to the hospital for the nurses.  Just wondering if this was standard practice to bring treats or gifts to the hospital when delivering?

I am going natural and planning to stay at home as long as possible before going to the hospital.  By the time I get there, I hope to be in active labor probably not in the mood for small talk and schmoozing at the nurse's station as I bribe them with gifts (isn't it their job to take care of me?)  At the same time, I don't want to be the only one not to bring something.  What's your plan or what did you do in the past?
