traveling and airport security

For those of you who checked the car seat and stroller and wore baby, how did you get through airport security?  I'm thinking about doing this but will be traveling alone and I'm not sure how this works.  Do you have to take the carrier off?  Also, did you carry any luggage through or did you check that as well?  I'll be taking a 1-hour flight and will be gone for a couple days, so I don't really need to pack all that much.  Thanks!
