what should we do?

lastnight my son who is 3 weeks old cried for about 2 hours... we tried everything and nothing would help, he finally pooped and then he was all better.. well my boyfriend was so stressed out an now hes saying hes going to keep our son up all day today an not let him sleep so that he will sleep at night... is this right? i mean i like todo things during the day, i much rather be up at night, an its not like everynight will be like lastnight... but is it ok for him to do that?
