A TMI Question

So I never went into labor with DD since I was induced with her. Never dilated, etc.

At my 38wk appt yesterday I was 1.5cm dilated. This evening I'm getting this feeling like a huge weight is in my crotch-like a heavy pull downward if that even makes any sense. And I'm getting shooting pains towards my butt sort of like I have to go #2. What on earth is this? Is the baby dropping/dropped?  And will I be feeling this for a long time or what?

I have a fear I'm going to go into labor this weekend and it's the worst timing ever-FIL is having his bypass surgery tomorrow and Sat we're going to Buffalo for my Dads wedding reception. I'm hoping baby can stay in another week!
