Can baby become dependent on white noise?

Right now, we use a white noise machine at night while DD sleeps. I've also started using it during her morning nap, because she sleeps much more soundly with it.

My question is... if I continue using it during naps, does that mean I will always have to? Right now I am more concerned with her getting the sleep she needs to grow, but for those who have used it in the past, was it hard to wean LO from it?
