casting of hands and feet-anyone done this?

I want to do casts of my LO's hands for her daddy for valentine's day. Has anyone done this? Is it super complicated? I was going to buy the kit from castingkeepsakes.com. Anyone get a finish that they really like? I am debating between the matte and the pearl...the clear glaze is nice too, I just am hoping someone else has done this and has advice for me!
