fussing on the bottle.. happening to anyone else?

DD is FF.  She takes about 2-3 oz every 2-3 hours.  Sometimes she takes the bottle with ease, drinking calmly.  Other times, she fusses on the bottes.  She squirms and drinks in big gulps (we can hear the air going down) but does not want to let go of the bottle.  I try to take her off the bottle to burp her (thinking it must be gas) but she cries for the bottle.  This happens once or twice a day, usually at night.  I was thinking maybe I should try the next nipple size?  Maybe she is hungry and not getting milk fast enough?  I have no idea... anyone else?
