Neocate users, come in!

The GI dr. just put DD on Neocate today after I stopped BFing.  I was dairy-free for over a month but she was still  having blood & green poop & was very irritible.  I know the most likely culprit was soy, but he said it's near impossible to find out exactly what was causing it.

My question is this: I read the ingredients, and Neocate contains soy.  Why would he prefer her on Neocate, which contains soy, than Alimentum, which doesn't have soy?  I know the whole thing about it still being made from cow's milk, but at least it's predigested.  The Neocate looks like it has straight-up soy.  I would think that would be worse.

Any ideas?

ETA: The office was already closed by the time I read the ingredients.  It's Friday, so I won't be able to ask until Monday.  I didn't think it was a good enough reason to call the emergency service, unless DD starts having a reaction to it over the weekend.
