How to use the cute little tickers and timers

On most of the posts and rplies I see, I see the tickers and timers at the bottom, I have learned how to make them but do you have to make it everytime you get on and if not how do you keep them so you can keep them at the bottom. As well, how do you add pictures to the posts?
