Will you use a leash?

So my college BFF is pregnant with a boy and I was checking out her registry when I saw that she wants this lion leash. Ok I guess the word is harness but everyone I know calls it a leash. I think it is cute but I don't know if I would use one. I always assume the kids on a leash have some kind of special need or are majorly out of control and the parents want to keep them safe. Are they necessary for average kiddo? Did you register for one?
