Question... Kinda TMI I guess??

So DS has a very small case of thrush. Does anyone know how they get it? I know its common with babies but is there a way of preventing them from getting it?

I am EBFing and sometimes DS gets a bad latch but he is still able to eat. But this evening my nipples have been rather tender and almost burn like feeling I suppose is the best way to explain it. But my question is, is this pain more likely from his thrush or from the occasional bad latch?

His Pedi said that his thrush should clear up on its own before to long... But what if it dosent? How bad is it if it passes onto the nipples? What kind of doctor would you contact over stuff like this?

Sorry for the run on. I just really do not know the answer(s).
