Burping baby after feedings...

My baby has started to get really gassy so the pedi. said to make sure I burp her really good while feeding to help the gas before it starts. But sometimes she falls asleep while eating and I try to wake her to burp her but sometimes she just wants to sleep. Does anyone just let their baby sleep after a feeding? I know this might sound like a silly question but I was wondering if others let their LO's sleep after a feeding?
