Dry boogers

My LO gets congested in the evening.  I run the humidifier, and things loosen up.  By morning, he has dry boogers up in his nose.  I would love to pick those suckers out, but I know you can't.  What do you recommend for getting them out?  I haven't had any luck with the bulb on dry matter.  I remember reading something, but my brain is refusing to work.  Thanks ladies!
