Good second convertible seat?

Hi ladies. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for a less expensive convertible carseat for my parents' car. My mom will likely have to drive him enough to get her own seat, but not so. Uch that think it is worth the extra $ for the Britax. Any suggestions for a safe, but basic second carseat?
