I can't win with Evan's hair

I don't know how to have his hair cut! I made sure she didn't cut his sideburns too high (like last time which DH schooled me about after) but this time DH said that he looks like Bridget Fonda circa Single White Female.

I'm not into buzz cuts for boys this young...but his hair is so thick that he can't really have it long either.

So how should toddler boys have their hair cut? Any tips??
