Diaper pail question

How big would you say your diaper pail is in the nursery? If you don't know the gallon size it's okay, just about how tall/wide? I bought a garbage can today with the intention of using it for a diaper pail, and now that it's in the room I'm thinking it's too small. It's an 8 gallon.... like a foot and a half tall. TIA!
